TALLAHASSEE – The 16th-ranked Florida State men’s tennis team resumes action on Saturday when it travels to play UCF at 3 p.m. with the match being held at USTA National Campus.
The Seminoles have played ranked opponents in three out of their previous four matches. Florida State’s record stands at 6-3 for the season.
Florida State is led by junior Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc, who is the No. 2 singles player in the nation, the highest ranking of any FSU men’s tennis player in school history. Cornut-Chauvinc enters Saturday’s match with an 8-0 record with five of those wins coming against ranked opponents.
Cornut-Chauvinc has won three weekly honors after winning ACC’s co-Player of the Week on January 31, his third weekly honor after earning Player of the Week and Doubles Pair of the Week on January 17.
Youcef Rihane, ranked 89th nationally, has been dominant in singles play for the Noles. Rihane is 8-1 and has beaten two nationally ranked players so far this year. Junior Andreja Petrovic entered the national rankings for the first time this year at 116th, and sophomore Jamie Connel is ranked 123rd in the country.
UCF is led by Lleyton Cronje and Bogdan Pavel, who are ranked 48th nationally in doubles. UCF is 1-6 this season, with losses to two ranked teams and a victory over Georgia Southern on January 22.
Florida State is 12-2 all-time against UCF, including a 4-3 win in 2022. Live stats and video will be available on Seminoles.com.
