GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Notre Dame’s Page Freeman is the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week while NC State’s Diana Shnaider earns her second ACC Women’s Tennis Freshman of the Week award.
Freeman recorded a ranked win over No. 42 Sofiya Chekhlystova of Penn State, 6-4, 7-6 (9) at the top singles position and earned a 6-3 win at the No. 1 doubles spot with partner Bojana Pozder. The senior fought to a three set loss against No. 57 Ava Markham before taking down then-No. 60 Ava Markham and Maria Sholokhova of No. 22 Wisconsin. Freeman moved up to No. 81 in the latest ITA rankings.
Shnaider – now ranked 52nd in the country – took down No. 29 Casie Wooten of Wake Forest in two sets 6-1, 7-5, in No. 9 NC State’s 7-0 win over the Demon Deacons. She also posted a 6-4 doubles victory with partner Alana Smith over No. 10 Anna Brylin and Brooke Killingsworth. The duo is now ranked 23rd in the country.
