MADISON, Wis. – The No. 22 Wisconsin women’s tennis team is on the road once again, this time taking on Notre Dame in South Bend. The Badgers are looking to extend their win streak to six matches, with the match against the Fighting Irish scheduled to start at 11 a.m. (CT) on Sunday.
Here are five things to know:
1. KNOW THE OPPONENT: The Fighting Irish sit at 7-1 on the season and are coming off a 6-1 win against Northwestern on Saturday, Feb. 11. Notre Dame’s only loss this season came against Georgia on Jan. 28. Notre Dame has two ranked singles players in No. 91 Page Freeman and No. 115 Yashna Yellayi.
2. LOOKING BACK: Wisconsin is 8-17 all-time against Notre Dame, with the last matchup between the two sides taking place in 2011. The Fighting Irish were ranked No. 13 in the country at the time and beat the Badgers 6-1.
3. RECAPPING THE WEEK: The Badgers are coming off a big 6-1 win against Baylor on Saturday, Feb. 11. With the win against the Bears the team extended its win streak to five games.
On Tuesday, Wisconsin moved up in the team ITA Rankings. The Badgers were previously ranked No. 25 in the nation, but in the newest rankings moved up three spots to No. 22.
