SEATTLE – The Husky men’s tennis team will go hunting for its first true road win this Friday against the rival Ducks in Eugene before returning back home for a Sunday dual against UNLV at the Nordstrom Tennis Center. Washington and Oregon’s Friday meeting will be a non-conference match-up.

The Dawgs are coming off a trip down south where they fell just short in their first two road matches, a 4-2 loss at Arkansas where UW was leading on the last court, and a 4-3 setback at Oklahoma State. Washington (4-3) will try to punch through against an Oregon squad that will have had 12 days between matches.

On the last road trip, Cesar Bouchelaghem and Dzianis Zharyn each had 2-0 weeks to maintain their unbeaten records in dual play, Bouchelaghem at 7-0 and Zharyn at 6-0.

The Ducks last competed on Feb. 5, a win over Seattle U. to bring their record to 6-1. Oregon also has wins over Pacific, Santa Clara, Tulsa, UC Riverside, and Utah State, and its only loss was at No. 2 Ohio State. Senior Joshua Charlton leads the Ducks at the No. 1 spot, where he has been ranked nationally for the past few years. Charlton is currently not ranked in singles, but he and Quinn Vandecasteele are ranked No. 10 in doubles. Last year UW earned three wins over the Ducks, a 4-2 win in Eugene, a 4-0 win in Seattle, and a 4-2 win at the Pac-12 Championships in Ojai.

Washington also had a 4-1 win over the Rebels last year in Las Vegas. UNLV has a 6-1 record thus far, getting four wins in three days last week over Montana, Idaho State, and two against UC San Diego. UNLV’s loss was a 4-3 setback to open the year against Hawaii. Maxim Verboven, a transfer from Arkansas, and senior Milos Dabic have manned the top spot for UNLV.
