MADISON, Wis. – The No. 25 Wisconsin women’s tennis team is traveling to Waco, Texas to face Baylor on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 11 a.m. (CT). The Badgers are currently on a four-match win streak and will look to add another to the win column against the Bears.
Here are five things to know:
1. KNOW THE OPPONENTS: Baylor sits at 6-2 on the season and is coming off a 6-1 loss against No. 18 Florida on Feb. 5. The Bears started out the season 5-0 but have gone 1-2 in their last three games. Wisconsin has only played Baylor one other time, losing 7-0 to the then-ranked No. 11 Bears on Feb. 8, 2008.
2. ITA RANKINGS: On Wednesday, the ITA released its first singles and doubles rankings of the spring season. Wisconsin has three singles players in the rankings in Ava Markham (No. 57), Maria Sholokhova (No. 87) and Xinyu Cai (No. 100). The duo of Markham and Sholokhova also came in at No. 59 in the doubles rankings.
3. RECAPPING THE WEEK: The Badgers had another undefeated weekend against Washington and Boise State in Boise, Idaho on Feb. 4 and Feb. 5. The women took down the Huskies 6-1 and the Broncos 4-0. Wisconsin extended its win streak to four matces after the win against Boise State, bringing the team’s overall record to 7-2. It’s the Badgers’ best start after nine games since the 2019-20 season.
