Boilermakers Secure Victory Over DePaul

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue women’s tennis claimed another victory with a 4-0 win over DePaul and their second sweep of the season.

In doubles, the No. 2 and No. 3 teams continued to make an impact when both claimed a 6-3 win. Senior Csilla Fodor and sophomore Carmen Gallardo Guevara defeated the Blue Demon’s Greta Carbone and Hannah Smith after fighting back from dropping early points. 

Freshman Kennedy Gibbs and sophomore Juana Larranaga defeated Valentina Martin and Maddie Yergler. The duo started strong claiming the first set and continued to dominate throughout the rest of the match.

The Boilermakers have yet to lose a doubles match.

In singles, Purdue was quick to put points on the scoreboard. 

Redshirt senior Liz Norman defeated Yuliya Kizelbasheva from DePaul 6-1, 6-1 to continue her singles win streak. Norman is 4-0 in the No. 1 spot so far this season. 

At No. 2, Guevara recorded another singles win. The Spaniard beat the Blue Demon’s Hannah Smith 6-4, 6-1.

A win at No. 5 sealed the victory for the Boilermakers. Gibbs defeated Maddie Yergler from DePaul 6-1, 6-3.
