As USC men’s tennis secured its 16th straight berth into the ITA National Team Indoor Championship, sophomore Peter Makk secured his first Pac-12 Player of the Week honors.
Over the weekend, Makk snagged a pair singles wins as helped USC to victory over Vanderbilt (4-2) and #25 UCLA (4-0). Playing on court two, #38 Makk defeated Vanderbilt’s Nathan Cox 7-6(3), 6-2 to clinch the match for the Trojans. A day later, Makk returned to defeat UCLA No. 89 ranked Giacomo Revelli with a 6-2, 6-2 decision at No. 2 singles. In doubles, he teamed up with Lodewijk Westrate to down Vanderbilt’s Cox/Ross 6-3 on court two. Makk now carries overall singles record of 12-7 and a doubles record of 8-3.
Next up for Makk and the Trojans is a trip to the Sunshine State for a pair of neutral site duals at the USTA National Campus in Orlando. USC will face No. 16 Florida on Saturday for a 2 p.m. EST match. On Sunday they’ll go head-to-head against the No. 15 ranked Georgia Bulldogs in a 12 p.m EST match.
