No. 9 Florida State Travels to play No. 16 Florida

TALLAHASSEE – The 9th-ranked Florida State men’s tennis team returns to action Thursday for College Matchday when they play No.16 Florida at 5 p.m. in Lake Nona, Florida. 

The Seminoles opened ITA Kickoff Weekend by defeating San Diego 4-2, before a close loss to No. 12 Baylor on Saturday. Florida State’s record now stands at 5-1 on the season. 

Florida State is led by junior Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc, who is the No. 12 singles player in the nation. All six of Cornut-Chauvinc’s singles opponents have been ranked, and he has posted a 5-0 record, most recently defeating No. 23 Finn Bass of Baylor 6-4, 6-2. 

Youcef Rihane, ranked 24th nationally, is also undefeated in singles play for the Noles. Rihane is 6-0 and has beaten two nationally ranked players so far this year. Sophomore Jamie Connel is ranked 53rd in the country in singles competition for the Seminoles.  

Florida has two doubles pairs in the national rankings. Tanapatt Nirundorn and Togan Tokac are ranked 10th for the Gators. Jonah Braswell and Lucas Greif are the country’s No. 43-ranked doubles duo. Braswell is also 93rd in the national singles rankings. The Gators are 3-1 this season with wins over Mississippi State, UCF and USF.  

The Seminoles and Gators are meeting at the USTA National Campus as part of the College MatchDay initiative for the sixth time in the last seven years. More information, including ticketing, can be found here. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
