SAN JUAN, P.R. – Celia-Belle Mohr and Holly Staff won in doubles and singles on Saturday to highlight the Vanderbilt women’s tennis team’s play on Day 2 of the San Juan Invitational.
The Mohr-Staff pairings earned a 6-4 win in doubles against Michigan’s Kari Miller and Julie Fliegner.
In singles, Mohr was a straight-set winner, taking down Wisconsin’s Maria Sholokova by scores of 7-5, 6-3.
Staff’s singles victory came against Wisconsin’s Ava Markham, 6-1, 6-4. Freshman Bridget Stammel picked up a singles win against SEC opponent Anastasia Astakhova of Auburn, 6-3, 6-0.
Rain caused singles matches featuring Anessa Lee and Marcella Cruz to go unfinished on the day.
The Commodores conclude the San Juan Invitational on Sunday.
