SEATTLE — An 8-0 day in singles and a 3-0 mark in doubles made for a perfect day for the Dawgs in South Carolina. Washington did not drop a set on day two of the Gamecock Shootout, dominating in single against Marshall and taking a trio of doubles matches against the host Gamecocks.
In doubles, Jennifer Kerr and Astrid Olsen had a 7-5 win over South Carolina’s Cruz/Malkin. Erika Matsuda and Sarah-Maude Fortin were 6-2 winners over Mills/Schaefbauer. And Melissa Sakar and Hikaru Sato defeated Gretkowski/Jennings, 6-1.
All eight Huskies played singles against the Thundering Herd today, and all got straight set wins. Only three of the sixteen sets got to five games apiece before UW won.
Tomorrow the Dawgs will wrap up their time in Columbia and the fall season with singles play against SMU.
