Sophomore Kimmi Hance of the UCLA women’s tennis team has been selected the UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Ready, for Oct. 17-24.
Hance secured the first career individual championship of her college career Monday, teaming with fellow sophomore Elise Wagle to claim the ITA Southwest Regional Championships doubles title in San Diego. The pair knocked off two nationally-ranked counterparts, including No. 6 Savannah Broadus and Janice Tjen of Pepperdine, en route to the title. The title qualified Hance and Wagle for the ITA National Fall Championships. Additionally, Hance reached the final round of the singles draw with five wins in four days against the best players in the region. She has started the 2022-23 season with an 8-2 singles record and a 5-1 doubles mark.
This is Hance’s first UCLA student-athlete of the week award of the season and of her career.
