No. 52 Malesevic, Ramskogler Win Doubles Debut

TULSA, Okla., – Mississippi State’s doubles tandem of Nemanja Malesevic and Gregor Ramskogler found success teaming together for the first time at the ITA All-American Championships on Monday.

Despite their lack of experience on the court with one another, the Bulldog duo is ranked 52nd nationally and quickly earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory over David Cierny and Bodin Zarkovic of Utah State in the Round of 64.

Both Malesevic and Ramskogler enjoyed doubles success during last spring with different partners. Malesevic teamed with Davide Tortora and climbed as high as 55th in the rankings while Ramskogler paired with longtime partner Florian Broska and was ranked as lofty as sixth in the country.

Malesevic and Ramskogler ran into another ranked opponent in the second round on Monday. The MSU duo was defeated by UCLA’s No. 57 tandem of Alexander Hoogmartens and Patrick Zahraj in a tightly contested 6-4, 6-4 battle.

It was the third match Malesevic had competed in on Monday. Earlier that morning, the 52nd-ranked junior lost in the first round of singles qualifying to Florida’s Jonah Braswell 6-2, 6-4.

Malesevic will meet Theo Dean of Yale in a qualifying consolation match on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m.
