EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State men’s tennis wrapped up the three-day Spartan Invitational Sunday afternoon, recording a pair of doubles wins and three singles wins at the MSU Outdoor Tennis Center.
The Spartan doubles pairings of Kazuki Matsuno/David Saye and Josh Portnoy/Luke Baylis continued their winning ways after notching doubles wins on Day Two, as Matsuno and Saye defeated Northwestern’s Goli and Bengsston, 7-6 (2). Portnoy and Baylis topped Toledo’s Kleinschnitz and Meluta, 6-3.
Baylis, Portnoy and junior Reed Crocker recorded wins in the fourth round of singles in straight sets. Baylis defeated Kleinshnitz, 7-6 (4), 6-2, Portnoy defeated Metula, 6-1, 6-0, and Crocker defeated Indiana’s Mac Rogers, 6-2, 6-3.
Up next, the Spartans head to Champaign, Ill. for the ITA Midwest Regionals, running from Oct. 20 to Oct. 24.
