CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Penn State women’s tennis team completed the third and final of play at the Charlotte Invite on Sunday.
Singles
The Nittany Lions split their singles matches. Ioana Gheorghita defeated Misa Malkin of South Carolina, 6-4, 6-0.
Carla Girbau fought her way to a victory over Emma Heiderscheit of Davidson, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, 7-6 (7-5).
Olivia Dorner fell in her match to Josie Schaffer of Davidson, 6-3, 6-4.
Karly Friedland battled hard in her match, but ultimately lost to Anya Lamoreaux of Iowa, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.
Doubles
The Blue and White also split their doubles matches. Karly Friedland and Ioana Gheorghita collected a win over Josie Schaffer and Emma Heiderscheit of Davidson, 6-2.
Olivia Dorner and Carla Girbau were unsuccessful against Lucia Aranda and Maddie Brown of Charlotte, 6-4
The Penn State women’s tennis team will continue their Fall schedule at the Martha Thorn Invitational on Oct. 7 – Oct. 9.
