Penn State Women’s Tennis Ends Day Two of the Charlotte Invite


CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Penn State women’s tennis team completed the second day of play at the Charlotte Invite on Saturday. The tournament will finish play on Sunday, Sept. 3. 
 
Singles
 
Olivia Dorner fell to Ruxi Schech of Charlotte, 6-1, 6-4. 
 
Carla Girbau lost her match to Margaux Maquet of Charlotte, 6-4, 6-2.
 
Karly Friedland gave a tough fight during her match against Kaavya Sawhney of Charlotte, but ultimately lost by a match score of 2-6, 6-3, 6-1. 
 
Ioana Gheorghita was unsuccessful against Emilia Alfaro of ETSU. She lost her match 6-0, 6-1. 
 
Doubles
 
Karly Friedland and Ioana Gheorghita fell in both of their doubles matches of the day. The duo was defeated by Margaux Maquet and Lucia Quiterio of Charlotte, 6-2. Friedland and Gheorghita fell to Ruxi Schech and Kaavya Sawhney of Charlotte, 6-2.
 
Olivia Dorner and Carla Girbau were also unsuccessful in both of their doubles matches. The pair was also fell to Charlotte’s Schech and Sawhney, 6-1. Dorner and Girbau faced their other lost against Maquet and Quiterio of Charlotte, 6-3. 
 
The Nittany Lions will continue play in the Charlotte Invite on Sunday, September 25.
