GREENVILLE, S.C. — On the second day of competition at the Debbie Southern Fall Invite, Jenna Thompson came out on top of a three-set battle in singles play. Her successful day comes following her Friday performance that saw her and Alexandra Anttila go 2-0 in doubles.
After dropping the first set 1-6, Thompson dominated the match, winning the next two sets 6-1 over Mississippi State’s Alessia Tagliente. The junior from Charlotte, N.C. finished last season 19-8 overall and 8-4 from Court 3, where she primarily played.
The Tigers will wrap up the weekend’s competition tomorrow. Cristina Mayorova will take the court at 9 a.m. and Thompson will play at 11 a.m.
