UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men’s tennis (13-11, 3-4 B1G) will travel to face two Big Ten opponents this weekend in Nebraska (8-14, 4-3 B1G) and Wisconsin (11-9, 5-2 B1G). The Nittany Lions will take on the Cornhuskers at 5:00 p.m. ET on Friday, April 22, before facing the Badgers at noon ET on Sunday.

The Nittany Lions split a doubleheader on Sunday, falling to conference opponent Illinois 7-0 before defeating JMU 5-2.
In Penn State’s Senior Day matchup against the Dukes, the Nittany Lions rebounded from a doubles point loss to take five singles courts. Grabbing the first point of the match, Sam Bossem improved to 12-4 in singles matches this season in a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Youssef Sadek. On court four, Loren Byers clinched for the Nittany Lions in a straight set 6-1, 6-2 win opposite JMU’s Oscar Hernandez.
Penn State honored its seniors, Arjun Mariyappa, Ondrej Ctverak, and Chikaya Sato after the match against JMU.
SCOUTING THE CORNHUSKERS
Nebraska enters Friday’s matchup as the 73-ranked team in the nation with an 8-14 record. The Cornhuskers are coming off a huge Big Ten weekend in which they took down conference opponents Purdue, 4-2 and Indiana, 4-2. They are 4-3 in Big Ten play. The Cornhuskers roster holds the No. 64 doubles pairing in Dario Huber and Shunya Maruyama.
This contest will mark the 11th time these two programs will face off on the court. The Nittany Lions hold a 7-3 record. In 2021, Nebraska defeated Penn State in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament, 4-2. Then-freshmen Bora Sengul and Miko Eala earned the Nittany Lions their only two points of the match.
PREVIEWING THE BADGERS
Wisconsin will face the No. 2 team in the country in Ohio State on Friday, before hosting the Nittany Lions on Sunday. The Badgers have an 11-9 record this season and are coming off a Big Ten weekend in which they defeated conference opponents Indiana, 4-3, and Purdue, 6-1.
Historically, Wisconsin is 10-8 against Penn State. Last season, they defeated the Nittany Lions 6-1 in Madison. Graduate transfer Tim Ruetzel grabbed Penn State’s only point of the match in a 6-4, 6-3 win over Jesper Freimuth, while also earning his fifth-straight singles win.
