Theo Dean is seeded No. 2 in singles and is part of the third-seeded doubles team in Seattle.

A host of Golden Bears from the California men’s tennis team will compete in the ITA Northwest Regional Championships starting Thursday and ending Tuesday at the University of Washington’s Nordstrom Tennis Center. The singles finalists and doubles champions from the tournament qualify, respectively, for the NCAA Singles Championship and NCAA Doubles Championship, with Baylor hosting both tournaments from Nov. 19-24 in Waco, Texas.

Five Bears are seeded in main draw singles – No. 2 Theo Dean, No. 3 Carl Emil Overbeck, No. 8 Alex Chang, Nos. 9-16 Derrick Chen and Nos. 9-16 Timofey Stepanov. Cal’s Alex Aney, Jonathan Irwanto and Ethan Schiffman will also compete in the singles main draw in Seattle. Cal freshman Bernardo Munk Mesa is playing in qualifying singles at ITA regionals and, since he was given a first-round bye, he needs to win just one qualifying match Thursday to advance to the main draw, which starts Friday.

Cal has five duos entered in the doubles main draw in Seattle – second-seeded Alex Chang and Mikey Wright, third-seeded Carl Emil Overbeck and Theo Dean, seventh-seeded Derrick Chen and Timofey Stepanov, Nos. 9-16-seeded Alex Aney and Ethan Schiffman, and Jonathan Irwanto and Bernardo Munk Mesa. The doubles main draw starts Friday.
