Arizona Sends Nine to ITA Southwest Regionals

TEMPE, Ariz. – Men’s Tennis is sending nine Wildcats up to Tempe to compete at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships this week from Oct. 17-22. Each Wildcat has the opportunity to earn a bid to the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships in November.

Representing Arizona will be their five freshmen: Zoran Ludoski, Matthias Kask, Santiago Padilla-Cote, Oskar Jansson, Filip Gustafsson alongside Wildcat returners Cole Stelse, Sasha Rozin, Iñaki Cabrera-Bello and Casper Christensen

The regional championship is one of three more select opportunities for the Cats to punch their ticket to Waco- the next two being ITA Sectionals and ITA Conference Masters at the beginning of next month. From here, the two regional singles finalists and the doubles champion will qualify for NCAA’s.

Wildcats Jay Friend and Colton Smith each qualified for the NCAA Singles Championship after a run at ITA All-Americans last month.

Kicking off regionals will be Arizona’s Padilla-Cote, who is scheduled to play in R64 tomorrow morning. Later that afternoon, Kask will begin play in R32.
