PHILADELPHIA — The Rutgers women’s tennis team concluded day three at the ITA Regionals on Saturday hosted by University of Pennsylvania.
Doubles pairs Zuzanna Frankowska & Jackie Lopez and Naomi Karki & Cindy Zhou advanced to Sundays quarterfinals with wins in the Round of 16.
Mai Nguyen and Frankowska both won their Round of 32 match-ups before falling in the next round.
Singles
Nguyen battled in her first match winning 7-6 (4), 6-3 against Amber Yin of Columbia.
Frankowska won both of her matches against Maggie Forkner of Lehigh 6-1 to move onto the Round of 16.
Nguyen and Frankowska both fought hard in their next matches, but will compete in the consolation round Sunday.
Doubles
Frankowska and Lopez took on Laura Wipfli and Irene Cocero of NJIT in the Doubles Round of 16. They defeated the Highlanders 8-4.
Karki and Zhou beat St. Joseph’s Gisele Tang and Addison Melfi 8-5 to advance further in regionals play.
Consolation
Zeynep Ilker and Minchae Kim both won their consolation matches and will advance in the main draw.
