KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee women’s tennis team is preparing to hit the road for the 2024 ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships, hosted by Middle Tennessee State University. The competition will occur at the MTSU Tennis Complex from Thursday through Monday.
Representing the Big Orange in the main draw will be Catherine Aulia, Leyla Britez Risso, Vanesa Suarez, and Elza Tomase. The qualifying draw will feature Saray Yli-Piipari, Elim Yan and Conley Raidt.
The tournament includes schools from around the Ohio Valley: Tennessee, Appalachian State, Belmont, Butler, Chattanooga, Cincinnati, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, ETSU, Indiana, IUPUI, Kentucky, Lipscomb, Louisville, Memphis, Miami (OH), MTSU, Murray State, Northern Kentucky, Purdue, Tennessee State, Southern Indiana, Vanderbilt and Xavier.

Tennessee’s 2024 squad was highly recognized in the Ohio Valley Region, collecting four end-of-the-year honors. Head coach Alison Ojeda was named the Ohio Valley Region Coach of the Year, assistant coach Matias Marin was selected as the Ohio Valley Region Assistant Coach of the Year.
Sofia Cabezas earned Ohio Valley Region Senior Player of the Year and Ohio Valley Region Most Improved Player, while Esther Adeshina garnered the Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship award, with the team earning honorable mention recognition to the ITA Community Service team.
