Sun Devil Women’s Tennis Boasts Three Players on ITA Preseason Rankings


TEMPE On Tuesday the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced preseason singles, doubles and newcomer rankings ahead of the 2024-25 season. 

Sun Devil Women’s Tennis sophomores Emilija Tverijonaite and Sara Svetac both representing the maroon and gold cracking the top-125. Tverijonaite is ranked No. 52 and Svetac is ranked No. 124, respectively. In the doubles rankings, Svetac and senior Patricija Spaka check in at No. 41 on the list.

Tverijonaite had a successful freshman campaign going 15-3 in singles dual matches last season, and going 12-5 in doubles play last year. She reached as high as No. 68 in the ITA Single’s rankings last season and received honorable mention all-conference honors. Svetac went 5-8 in singles and 11-7 in doubles play in her freshman campaign.

Spaka received honorable mention all-conference honors last season and has competed at the NCAA tournament since becoming a Sun Devil with a career doubles record of 29-22 including a round-of-16 appearance at the 2023 NCAA Doubles Championships.

The Sun Devils are one of five Big 12 schools to have three or more athletes on the ITA Preseason rankings. The first tournament for the Sun Devils will take place Sept. 19-22 at the UTSA SoCal Intercollegiate Championships in San Diego as the NCAA Individual and Doubles championships will take place in the Fall on Nov. 19-24 in Waco, Texas.
