24-year-old Korda claimed his biggest career title, defeating Cobolli 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 in Sunday’s final to join his father on the tournamen’t honor roll. Korda’s father, Petr, triumphed in 1992 in DC, and also reached the final in 1991 and 1997.

It was a strong performance from the smooth striking Korda, who only saw his serve broken twice in the tournament. He also saved a pair of match points in his round of 16 clash with Thanasi Kokkinakis, making him the seventh ATP player to win a total after being match point down in the tournament.

Korda rises from 22 to 18 in the rankings – he is one of four Americans, along with Ben Shelton, Tommy Paul and Taylor Fritz, to hold a Top-20 ranking.

Cobolli, who saved five match points in his round of 16 match against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, rises 15 spots to a career-high ranking of 22. The 22-year-old Italian is one of six Italians in the Top-50, and the fourth-ranked Italian man overall.

Cobolli has had a magnificent season – he was ranked 101 at the start of the year with just six ATP match wins to his name. He has won 25 matches in 2024, and reached his first final this weekend in DC.

The biggest riser in the Top 100 this year is France’s Alexandre Muller. He jumps 22 spots after winning the San Marino Challenge title on clay.
