#8 Cats Blank Utah on Senior Day


TUCSON – The Arizona men’s tennis team took down Utah, 4-0, on Sunday for their fifth win of Pac-12 play this season.

The team honored three seniors prior to the match as Herman Hoeyeraal, Nick Lagaev and Gustaf Strom suited up for their final regular-season matches at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.

Arizona (19-3, 5-1 Pac-12) won the doubles point, taking the matches over Utah (3-17, 0-6 Pac-12) on courts two and three. Hoeyeraal and Eric Padgham got 6-3 over Jayson Blandon and Michael Blando before the senior duo of Lagaev and Strom defeated Dylan Applegate and Geremia Rossi.

The Cats won five of the six first sets in singles, and the three seniors each got wins to seal the team victory

Hoeeyeraal made quick work of his match with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Geronimo Busleiman on court one, and Lagaev followed suit soon after, getting a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Blandon.

Minutes later, No. 77 Strom clinched the Wildcat team win with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Bruno Krenn.

Arizona returns to action next week with a road trip to the Pacific Northwest. The Wildcats
