#5 Women’s Tennis Opens ACCT with Sweep Over #25 FSU

CARY, N.C. – Fifth-ranked NC State women’s tennis (21-4) opened the ACC Tournament in the quarterfinals with a 4-0 sweep over No. 25 Florida State (16-10).

Doubles lineups for the Wolfpack looked familiar with No. 5 Diana Shnaider and Alana Smith on court one, No. 8 Nell Miller and Amelia Rajecki on court two, and Sophie Abrams and Abigail Rencheli on court three.

The start of the match was delayed over an hour as they were waiting on the previous match to finish up. Doubles play started out close but NC State was able to quickly pull away on courts two and three to secure the point for the team.

Miller and Rajecki picked up a 6-3 ranked win over Florida State’s No. 56 Anna Arkadianou and Millie Bissett to start off the day strong, followed by another 6-3 win by Abrams and Rencheli. Shnaider and Smith were leading 4-3 on court one when play was halted.

Already leading by one moving into singles, it didn’t take the Pack very long to secure their win. In her first ever conference tournament, No. 12 Shnaider got it done first with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over No. 79 Vic Allen.

Very used to the atmosphere, veteran No. 76 Rencheli, commanded court four to close out 6-2, 6-3 and put the win in arm’s reach of her team.

Ultimately, it was Gina Dittmann on court six who secured the victory for the Pack when she finished 6-3, 6-2 in her first ever ACC Tournament.
