Women’s Tennis Drops Match to No. 12 Ohio State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State women’s tennis team (5-12, 4-3 B1G) dropped a Big Ten conference match to No. 12 Ohio State (13-6, 6-1 B1G).
 
The Blue and White will not play again until April 12 against Nebraska on the road.
 
DOUBLES
 
At the top doubles spot, Sofiya Chekhlystova and Yvonne Zuffova took on Ohio State’s Irina Cantos Siemers and Luciana Perry, ranked 28th in the country. The Nittany Lions dropped a 6-1 decision.
 
Olivia Dorner and Karly Friedland, ranked 73rd in the nation, competed at No. 2 doubles against OSU’s Sydni Ratliff and Audrey Spencer. The PSU pair fell 6-0.
 
At No. 3, Jordina Cegarra and Alina Lebedeva took on the Buckeyes’ Madeline Atway and Alessia Cau. The match was even at 3-3 when it was stopped.
 
SINGLES
 
The Buckeyes grabbed all six singles matches to win the match 7-0.
 
At No. 2, Olivia Dorner fell to #41 Luciana Perry, 6-3, 6-1. 
 
Jordina Ceggara lost her match versus #113 Sydni Ratliff, 6-1, 6-1.
 
To clinch the match for the Buckeyes, Shelly Bereznyak won her match against Yvonne Zuffova, 7-5, 7-5.
 
At No. 1, Sofiya Chekhlystova narrowly fell versus No. 15 Irina Cantos Siemers, 6-0, 5-7 (5), 6-4. 
 
Danielle Alamo dropped her match against Audrey Spencer, 6-1, 6-2.
 
At No. 5, Karly Friedland lost to Teah Chavez, 6-3, 6-2.
