Woman's Tennis Lands 5-Star Recruit

Tucson, Ariz.- Stephanie Shogreen signed her National Letter of Intent to join the Arizona Women’s Tennis program, as announced by Head Coach Ryan Stotland on Wednesday. Shogreen is a five-star recruit from Scottsdale, Ariz.

Shogreen comes to Arizona as a former nationally top-10 player when she was 14 years old and former top-50 at the age of 18. After formerly holding the No.1 spot in the Southwest she is ready to head to Tucson.

“I chose the U of A because it was a great fit for me with the quality of academics and great tennis team,” said Shogreen. “I also wanted to stay in-state and really loved the campus atmosphere. U of A has an amazing community of people, and I knew from the start it was something I wanted to be a part of.”

When asked about Shogreen’s commitment Coach Stotland said, “Stephanie was born to Bear Down!   She is a feisty competitor and has been a top nationally ranked player for many years.  We want to make sure we get the best players from this state and keep them here and Stephanie is another key piece to that!  We know she has a hunger to improve and to be a top collegiate player.  She understands the commitment it will take to be great and what we expect here at Arizona.    We know she is accepting of this challenge and looking forward to it.  She is a fighter through and through.  Not only does Stephanie possess unique tennis skills, but she fits in with our team culture and is not only incredibly intelligent, but also a fun, amazing person.  We know she loves to laugh, and her humor is something we look forward to seeing every day on our courts.  We know Wildcat Nation got another great player and an even better person.  We look forward to what Stephanie will bring to help us in the future. “
