NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt men’s tennis opened home play Wednesday with a win against East Tennessee State.

Posting the doubles point were Danil Panarin and Joubert Klopper taking the 6-3 victory on Court 2 and Jeremie Casabon and Nathan Cox coming out on top at Court 1—giving the Commodores a 1-0 advantage going into singles play.

Vanderbilt’s momentum continued, with Klopper dropping straight sets on Court 1. The Dores picked up 3 more singles points with Juan Lopez, Panarin, and Casabon claiming victories on Courts 2, 3 and 5. Cox forced a third set against ETSU’s James Sim, ultimately winning by default.

Vanderbilt comes out on top 6-0 against East Tennessee State.

TSU Tigers
The second match of the day started with the Dores again picking up the doubles point, with Casabon/Cox and Klopper/Panarin winning their matches. Michael Ross/Lopez posted a 5-3 score after an abandoned match.

In singles, the Commodores pursued victory with Panarin and Lopez each winning straight sets. Ross and Casabon forced a third set; both came out on top, Ross with a 6-1, 5-7, 6-1 victory and Casabon winning 6-7, 6-2, 6-1.
