ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico – The Utah men concluded the first of two road matches before a home streak this afternoon. Utah faced the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns and secured the doubles point early on, but ultimately for final score 4-2.
The day began with doubles, with the Utes securing the point early on. Court one consisted of a victory from twins Jayson and Michael Blando as they dominated their set 6-4. On court two saw Dylan Applegate and Geremia Rossi take down the Louisiana duo 6-4, as well. This win awarded Utah with the first point of the game. Geronimo Espin Busleiman and Gianluca Citadidni were trailing 4-5 in their set but did not finish.
As the match moved to singles play the squad faced trouble. Espin Busleiman secured the second and final point for the Utes as he defeated Louisiana’s Kyjaci in a 6-4, 6-3 match. J. Blando dropped his first set on court two, won the second in a tough-fought 7-6(5), but ultimately dropped the third.
Courts four, five, and six dropped their matches as well, bringing Louisiana to four points and clinching the match.
On court three, Applegate also dropped the first set and won the second but was unable to finish before Louisiana clinched the match.
UP NEXT
The Utes will face New Mexico at 12 p.m. MT on Sunday, Feb 11 before returning to the George S. Eccles Tennis Center in Salt Lake for a couple of home matches.
