LAKE NONA, Fla.  — USC freshman Maddy Sieg served up a three-set victory in today’s NCAA Singles Round of 16 to take another strong step forward in her first venture into NCAA individual action. She and fellow Trojan Eryn Cayetano were equally as fortunate in their second round of doubles as the duo won their match to advance to the quarterfinals.

The freshman All-American took down Georgia’s Dasha Vidmanova during the Round of 16, beating the Bulldog 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. Tomorrow, Sieg will face South Carolina’s Ayana Akli in the NCAA Singles Quarterfinals at 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT tomorrow.

Trojan Sieg is one of only two freshmen in the singles quarterfinals and the only freshman competing in both the singles and doubles quarterfinals.

Just hours after punching her ticket into the singles quarterfinals, Sieg returned to the court, this time alongside doubles partner Eryn Cayetano. With a straight-set 6-3, 6-4 win, the USC duo beat Wake Forest’s Brylin/Killingsworth to advance to tomorrow’s quarterfinals. The duo will face South Carolina’s Akli/Sarah Hammer at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT on Thursday.

The final ITA team rankings were released today with USC checking in at No. 25 to wrap up the 2023 season.
