Rosie Seccia Commits to Fighting Illini Women’s Tennis

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois women’s tennis head coach Evan Clark has announced the addition of Rosie Seccia to the Fighting Illini program this coming fall. She’ll join the squad beginning with the 2023-24 campaign.

Seccia hails from New York City, N.Y and attends high school at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. She’s the daughter of Lisa and Peter and has an older brother, Jack.

On the court, Seccia is rated a 4-start recruit by tennisrecruiting.com and has ranked as high as No. 79 in the country by the outlet. She also climbed as high as No. 5 in the state of New York. Seccia has been one of the top-100 rated recruits in the 2023 class for the last three years. Additionally, she has reached four ITF final in both singles and doubles across her career.

Why she chose Illinois: “I chose Illinois because of the tight knit community, great campus and academics, and because of the amazing coaches and team.”

Clark on adding Rosie Seccia: “We are thrilled to welcome Rosie to the Fighting Illini Women’s Tennis Family. We feel very fortunate that Rosie decided to join our program as we believe she has a tremendous amount of potential and believe she will thrive in the college tennis setting.

Rosie’s athleticism and work ethic are very special. She is an individual that has shown a great deal of growth in a very short period, and we know that growth will continue once she is an Illini. We can’t wait to get her on campus in the fall.”
