SEATTLE –

The Huskies are back on the road with another big opportunity against a top-20 opponent, staying on the west coast this time but heading all the way down to San Diego. Saturday, at 12 noon, the Huskies (3-3) will face 18th-ranked San Diego (3-1) to finish off a five-match road stretch.

It’s the second-straight top-20 road test for the Huskies, who dropped a 4-1 decision in their last match at then-No. 11 Michigan last weekend in Ann Arbor. Han-Chih Lin picked up the one singles win, which completed a 2-0 road weekend for the senior, as he also had a victory in UW’s 6-1 win at Wisconsin.

This week in the ITA rankings, juniors Dzianis Zharyn and Cesar Bouchelaghem moved up to the No. 10 spot in the doubles rankings, a new high for the duo, and the first Huskies in the doubles top-10 since 2005.

The Toreros are coming off a pair of big home wins over Pac-12 opponents, knocking off Arizona and Arizona State, both by 4-3 scores, when UA was ranked 10th and ASU was 18th. Their one loss was 3-4 on the road against another Pac-12 opponent, USC, in the ITA Kickoff Weekend final. San Diego has one of the top-ranked singles players in the nation, Oliver Tarvet, currently ranked No. 3 with a 14-2 record on the year. Also ranked is Iiro Vasa, at No. 52, and in doubles, the duo of Sacchitt Sharrma and Stian Klaassen are ranked No. 21.

After taking on the Toreros, the Dawgs will be back home next Saturday, Feb. 17, to host Arkansas at 1 p.m.
