On the Court: Women's tennis travels to UCF


MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women’s tennis team will face the University of Central Florida Knights on Sunday, Feb. 18, at 10 a.m. (CT) on the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.

1. SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS: The UCF Knights under the reign of eighth year head coach Bryan Koniecko, and are 1-3 on the campaign. Sophia Biolay and Noel Saidenova lead the Knights with a pair of singles wins each.

2. BADGERS IN THE RANKINGS: The Badgers have seen a continuous presence in the national rankings this season with Alinka Mukhortova and Xinyu Cai coming in at No. 49 in the ITA doubles poll. On the singles side, Maria Sholokhova and Cai have found themselves at No. 61 and No. 121 in the ITA singles poll.

3. THE LAST SERVE: The Badgers had a triumphant weekend at home taking down both Marquette and Notre Dame.

Against Marquette, the most notable win came from the No. 1 doubles pairing, Sholokhova and Ava Martin, who blanked their opponent, 6-0, in under 30 minutes.  Ariel Johnson made a two-set comeback against Notre Dame to secure the win for the Badgers.
