On the Court: No. 24 women’s tennis concludes non-conference at home


MADISON, Wis. – The No. 24 Wisconsin women’s tennis team will go head-to-head with Boise State, Mar. 1 at 5 p.m. and Depaul, Mar. 3 at 11:30 a.m. 

 

1. SCOUTING THE BRONCOS: The Boise State Broncos are led by fourteenth-year head coach, Beck Roghaar, who serves as the director of both men’s and women’s tennis programs. 

Senior Nicole Discenza had leads Broncos with a 4-2 record on the 2024 campaign.

2. SCOUTING THE BLUE DEMONS: DePaul is 8-5 this season, and is currently on a three-match win streak  

Greta Carbone and Emily Casati carry the team, both claiming four-match and six-match streaks.

The team is head-coached by Marisa Arce, who is in her fourth season with the Blue Demons.

3. BADGERS IN THE RANKINGS: The Badgers have staked its claim in the ITA rankings, checking in this week at No. 24.

In the individual rankings, Maria Sholokhova has secured the No. 86 position, and Xinyu Cai stands at No. 123. 

4. THE LAST SERVE: On Feb. 18, the Badgers dominated against the UCF Knights in Orlando, Fla., securing a 4-2 victory. 

Doubles pairing, Taylor Cataldi and Rosie Garcia Gross brought home the win of the doubles point on top of a 30-minute win by Ellison Reynoldson and Xinyu Cai.

In the singles matches, Maria Sholokhova maintained a steady composure, securing her victory for Wisconsin by clinching the match in the second set, following a closely contested 7-5 win in the first.
