Okonkwo, Meister Earn All-District Honors


CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Fighting Illini men’s tennis graduate students Nic Meister and Oliver Okonkwo have earned CSC (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District honors for the 2022-23 season.

To be eligible for the award, nominees must have a 3.50 GPA and completed one full calendar year at their current institution and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. Nominees must also be a starter or important reserve to the team and participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s contests

Nic Meister – M.S. Management

Meister owned a 6-6 record at the No. 6 singles spot this season where he played almost all his matches. The Chicago native had a 22-12 overall record, led the team in wins and competed in 20 matches this season. 

Oliver Okonkwo – M.S. Kinesiology 

Okonkwo finished the season with a 19-12 overall record and was 5-1 in Big Ten play. He also had a 9-5 record in the No. 5 singles spot where he played the majority of his 28 matches.
