No. 41 Women’s Tennis Competes Against No. 29 UCF


UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 41 Penn State women’s tennis team (8-6) will travel to Orlando, Fla. to take on the No. 29 UCF (5-5) on Wednesday, March 8 at 5 p.m. E.T.

PREVIEWING PENN STATE

 

The Nittany Lions are continuing their away stint after a Big Ten conference loss against Ohio State, 7-0.

 

The Blue and White was ranked 41 in the ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings this week, and Sofiya Chekhlystova is No. 43. The team and Chekhlystova are both the same from the last time the both were ranked.

 

This will be the third time that Penn State has ever played UCF in women’s tennis.

 

KNOWING THE KNIGHTS 

 

The UCF women’s tennis team’s latest match was a 4-0 loss against Miami.

 

In this week’s rankings, the Knights were ranked No. 29. Additionally, the team has one ranked player and a ranked doubles pair.

 

Marie Mattel is No. 30. Mattel alongside Sophia Biolay are ranked No. 61 among doubles pairs.

The Penn State women’s tennis team will play for the second time this week on Sunday, March 12 at 1 p.m. E.T. against Charlotte.
