No. 20 Georgia Defeats Jackets, 5-2 – Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets


ATHENS, Ga – The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team concluded the day with a 5-2 loss at Georgia. 

Georgia Tech started competition off, clinging the doubles point. Andres Martin and Gabriele Brancatelli made quick work of their match, defeating Georgia’s Paulsell and Colby 6-2. Marcus McDaniel and Keshav Chopra found themselves clinching the doubles point over Georgia’s Ratiu and Blaydes 6-3 

The Jackets recorded a win in singles play. McDaniel defeated No. 36 Ryan Colby in identical 6-3 sets.

Niels Ratiu (UGA) def. #67 Gabriele Brancatelli (GT); 5-7, 6-4, 6-3  

Freddy Blaydes (UGA) def. Elias Shokry (GT); 6-3, 6-3  

#112 Cyrus Mahjoob (UGA) def. Rohan Sachdev (GT); 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 


Keshav Chopra/Marcus McDaniel (GT) def. Niels Ratiu/Freddy Blaydes (UGA); 6-3  

Gabriele Brancatelli/Andres Martin (GT) def. Thomas Paulsell/Ryan Colby (UGA); 6-2  

Miguel Perez Peña/Cyrus Mahjoob (UGA) vs. Elias Shokry/Rohan Sachdev (GT); 3-5, unfinished

The Jackets will return to the Ken Byers Tennis Complex on Saturday, Feb. 24 hosting a double header against UNCW and Mercer.
