Men’s Tennis Set for Gamecock Ranked +1


DURHAM – Members of the Duke men’s tennis team will travel to Columbia, S.C., this weekend for the Gamecock Ranked +1, hosted by the University of South Carolina. 
 
The event kicks off Friday and continues through Sunday at the Carolina Tennis Center. There are 10 teams competing at the event in Arizona, Auburn, Columbia, Duke, North Carolina, Michigan State, North Carolina State, Virginia, Wake Forest, and host South Carolina.

Four Blue Devils are set to take part in the three-day tournament – Andrew DaleConnor KrugJake Krug and Andrew Zhang.

 

In the A bracket for singles action, Jake Krug faces fourth-seeded Casey Hoole of South Carolina in his opening match, while Dale battles third-seeded Ronald Hohmann of Michigan. Both matches begin at 9 a.m. In the B bracket for singles play, Connor Krug is set to compete against Anuj Watane of North Carolina, while Zhang matches up against South Carolina’s Sean Daryabeigi in his opening round. The B bracket matches will not begin prior to 10:30 a.m.

 

The tournament will consist of three singles flights and three doubles flights. A and B singles flights will be compass draws of 16 while the C singles flight will be broken into two round robin draws of four. The doubles draw for the event will be announced on Friday.

 

Admission is free and open to the public. Gates will open 30 minutes prior to the start of each day’s events. Friday parking will be available on the streets surrounding the athletic village. Compliance with all City of Columbia parking signage is encouraged. Saturday and Sunday parking will be available in the grass lot behind the women’s side courts. An entrance to the lot is available off of Heyward Street. Outside food and drink (excluding alcoholic beverages) are permitted.
