Men's Tennis Drops Match At Purdue


WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Penn State men’s tennis team fell to Purdue on Sunday afternoon. The squad battled on the road, but ultimately dropped the match, 6-1. 

 

DOUBLES 

At the No. 1 spot, Miko Eala and Alex Sterin fell 6-3 against Soham Purohit and Juan Velasquez. Ari Cotoulas and Stefan Simeunovic partnered together at No. 2, but dropped their match to Purdue’s Stefan Simeunovic and Henrik Villanger, 6-3. 

On court No. 3, Nolan Ranger and Ritvik Nadikude were leading Mujtaba Ali-Khan and Daniel Labrador, 5-3, when the match went unfinished, as Purdue had already clinched the doubles point. 

SINGLES 

Eala took court No. 1, defeating Purdue’s Simeunovic in a match tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-1, 11-9. It was Eala’s eighth singles win of the season and his fourth-straight win at No. 1.

At the No. 2 spot, Penn State’s Simeunovic fell 7-6(9), 6-1 to Purohit. Cotoulas played at No. 3, but dropped his match to Villanger, 7-5, 6-2. On court No. 4, Sterin fell to Velasquez, 6-2, 6-2. Nadikude faced Labrador at No. 5, but dropped his match 6-1, 6-1.
