ATHENS, GA. – South Carolina men’s tennis added four wins at the Southern Intercollegiates Saturday, including the first career singles win for freshman Cole Henceroth.
South Carolina started the day with matching 6-4 wins in the Doubles Red Draw consolation round from the freshman Atakan Karahan and sophomore Jelani Sarr duo and the pair of freshman Max Stenzer and Sean Daryabeigi.
In Singles Black Draw consolation action, junior Lucas Andrade da Silva played a tough second set to close out Clemson’s Romain Gales 6-2, 7-5 for his first singles win of the season. In the Silver Draw, Henceroth closed strong in his consolation match with Georgia’s Parker Mariencheck, picking up the hard-fought 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 victory.
No. 118 Sarr battled No. 28 Ryan Colby from Georgia to three sets in the Red Draw quarterfinal, taking the first set 6-3 before his top-30 opponent rallied to claim the next two sets 6-2, 6-1
