Mae and Inah Canete Close Out ITA National Fall Tennis Championships

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The University of Missouri doubles duo of senior Mae Canete and junior Inah Canete fell to the No. 1 doubles team in the country in the round of 16 of the ITA National Fall Championships on Thursday, Nov. 2 at the Barnes Tennis Center.

The senior and junior doubles team dropped a match to the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill’s Elizabeth Scotty and Reese Brantmeier in a hard-fought battle (6-2, 6-2) after coming off of a win in the first round. The sisters snagged a victory against Phoebe Peus and Lindsey Hofflander of Brown University (3-6, 6-4 (11-9)) on Nov. 1.

COACH TURATI

“Very positive tournament for Mae and Inah. I’m proud of them. They competed well. Great win yesterday against Brown University. They both showed how tough they are. They were down a set and 2-0 and fought all the way back. In the 3rd set breaker, they saved two match points, stepping up their game and hitting their best shots when it really mattered. Today, they lost to the best doubles duo in the country, but they created many opportunities, especially in the first set. Lots of positive takeaways, and now we know what we need to work on to be even more competitive and get to the next level.”
