ORLANDO, Fla. – Illinois men’s tennis doubles team Hunter Heck and Karlis Ozolins have earned All-America honors after  making an Elite Eight run in the NCAA Doubles Championship Thursday afternoon at the UTSA National Campus.

No. 37-ranked Heck and Ozolins defeated No. 42-ranked Edoardo Graziani and Kevin Zhu (Penn), 6-4, 6-2 in the Sweet Sixteen to earn the prestigious honor.

The duo’s postseason run ended in the Elite Eight, however, when they lost 6-2, 6-7 (1), 1-0 (10-8) to No. 16-ranked Andrew Lutschaunig and James Trotter (Ohio State).

This is the first time an Illini pair have earned this postseason award since 2007 when legend Kevin Anderson and his partner Ryan Rowe went to the National Championship round.
