CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Florida State’s Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, while Wake Forest’s DK Suresh and Holden Koons were tabbed the Doubles Team of the Week. WF’s Luka Pow earned his first career Freshman of the Week honor.
Cornut-Chauvinc added two additional ranked wins to his undefeated 2024 senior campaign, defeating Virginia’s No. 10 Chris Rodesch, 7-6 (3), 6-3, and Virginia Tech’s No. 65 Ryan Fishback, 7-6 (6), 7-5. The fourth-ranked player in the nation now has 12 ranked wins on the season with eight coming over top-50 opponents in his unblemished 16-0 singles record.
Suresh Ekambaram and Koons earned a pair of doubles victories over two top-15 pairs this weekend. The Demon Deacons clinched the doubles point in both matches, en route to a perfect 2-0 weekend. The top-ranked doubles team in the nation is 14-1 in dual doubles action this season, including a 4-0 mark in ACC play.
Pow went a perfect 2-0 in dual singles action this week win now No. 6 Wake Forest’s 2-0 weekend over Louisville and Notre Dame. The Solihull, England, native earned two straight-set wins over the Cardinals and Fighting Irish on Court 5. Pow is now on a 12-match winning streak in singles play, including a perfect 4-0 mark in ACC play. Overall this season, the freshman has accumulated an 18-2 dual singles record.
Six ACC teams are in the top 25 of the ITA National Rankings this week, highlighted by Virginia as the No. 2 team in the nation, followed by No. 6 Wake Forest, No. 14 Duke, No. 15 Florida State, No. 18 NC State and No. 24 North Carolina.
