Colorado State Tops Tennis, 5-2

Colorado

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The University of Missouri tennis team dropped a road match at Colorado State University on Saturday, Feb. 10, 5-2. The Rams move to 3-1 on the season, while the Tigers drop to 2-7.

Starting the day with doubles action, the No. 3 pairing of sophomore Andrea Artimedi and graduate student Emelie Schwarte earned a 6-3 win, their fifth of the season (5-4). Mizzou battled but could not capture the doubles point and headed into singles play down, 1-0.

In the No. 1 singles match, Mae Canete fought through three sets to win against Radka Buzkova, 1-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3. Schwarte also found her way to victory, playing through three sets to get the win, 6-1, 5-7, 7-5, in the No. 4 spot versus Sarka Richterova. Despite their best efforts, the Tigers ultimately fell 5-2 to the Rams.

HEAD COACH BIANCA TURATI

“Tough conditions to adapt to, playing in the high altitude here. Hard luck with the doubles point. Emelie and Mae competed very hard and got the job done, but that was not enough to get the win as a team today. Now we have to regroup quickly and bounce back to perform our best tomorrow against Colorado.”
