Arkadianou Battles In First Round of NCAA Singles Tournament

ORLANDO – Florida State’s Anna Arkadianou dropped a three-set battle to Page Freeman of Notre Dame 6-1, 6-7 (5), 6-3 in the first round of the NCAA Singles Tournament on Monday.

Arkadianou was the second alternate in the NCAA Singles Tournament and was officially added to the field Monday morning.

The match began with Freeman taking the first set 6-1. Freeman continued her dominant play and took a 5-1 lead in the second set, moving one game away from victory.

Arkadianou battled back and won six straight games to win the second set 7-6 (5). Arkadianou fought hard in the third set and was able to win two straight games to cut the lead to 5-3 before ultimately falling 6-3 in the deciding set.

Arkadianou finished the 2022-23 season with 32 total wins, including 20 in dual-match competition. The Greece native has one year of eligibility left in her colligate career and was a key component for the Seminoles this past season.
