UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State women’s tennis team (7-8, 1-2 Big Ten) prepares to continue Big Ten play at home this weekend against No. 70 Michigan State (9-6, 1-3 Big Ten) on Saturday at 10 a.m. No. 26 Michigan (10-4, 4-0 Big Ten) on Sunday at 11 a.m.
Last Time Out
The Nittany Lions enter this weekend’s matches coming off a road win over Iowa, 4-3, on March 20. In doubles play Penn State secured two wins over the Hawkeyes from duos Yvonne Zuffova and Olivia Ryan as well as Karly Friedland and Sofiya Chekhlystova. The Nittany Lions and Hawkeye’s held a fierce face-off in singles play. Penn State’s dominance on courts one, two and three by Chekhlystova, Zuffova and Gabby O’Gorman secured a defeat over Iowa.
Scouting the Spartans
A ranked Michigan State team will enter Happy Valley on Saturday with a 9-6 record after falling to Minnesota last Sunday, 4-0. The Spartans are 1-3 in Big Ten Conference play entering the weekend. Following the matchup with the Nittany Lions, Michigan State will travel to Columbus, Ohio to face No. 4 Ohio State.
Scouting the Wolverines
The No. 26-ranked Michigan squad holds a 10-4 record on the season and 4-0 record in conference play. The Wolverines boast the No.11, No. 73, and No.91 ranked singles players in Kari Miller, Jaedan Brown, and Michaela Bayerlova, as well as the No. 74 doubles pairing. Michigan will continue conference play against No. 70 Michigan State on Saturday, April 9.
