Women’s Tennis Ranked No. 20 in Final Polls – Women’s Tennis — Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s tennis capped the 2022-23 season ranked No. 20 in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association polls. Additionally, four Yellow Jackets were ranked in the singles top 125 and one doubles team led the way for Tech in the individual rankings released Wednesday.

Georgia Tech saw many highlights to its season including a run to the ACC Championship semifinals and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Making its 23rd consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament, the Yellow Jackets uprooted UCF in first round action before meeting Florida in the round of 32. Tech got its postseason run started by blanking Syracuse in the ACC Championships second round before knocking off No. 6 Duke in the quarterfinals.

All four Yellow Jackets nationally ranked in singles recorded at least 25 singles wins this season. Carol Lee led the way for Tech, coming in at No. 14, after reaching the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals. An ITA All-American, Lee produced a 29-12 overall singles record, including a 17-7 dual mark from the No. 1 position.

Joining Lee in the nation’s top 40 was teammate Kylie Bilchev who finished the season ranked No. 36. Bilchev made her first appearance in the NCAA Singles Championship and compiled a 27-9 overall singles record this season, including a 20-4 dual record from the No. 2 position. Against Atlantic Coast Conference opponents, Bilchev went 10-2, becoming one of two Jackets to win 10 league matches.

Rounding out Tech’s representatives in the singles polls were Mahak Jain at No. 112 and Alejandra Cruz at No. 122. Jain led Georgia Tech mainly from the No. 3 position this season and finished with a 25-12 overall singles record. The junior boasted a 16-8 dual singles record and went 10-3 against ACC opponents. Cruz capped her illustrious freshman campaign with a 25-13 overall singles record, including a 16-7 dual mark. The two-time ACC Co-Freshman of the Week honoree, Cruz compiled a 13-3 record at the No. 4 singles position.

Pairing together in doubles action, Bilchev and Cruz were the lone doubles team ranked in the final poll, coming in at No. 88. The pair went 19-12 overall this season, leading the Jackets from the top two doubles positions.

Georgia Tech finished the 2022-23 season with a 16-10 overall record and 7-6 ACC mark.
