KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 22 Tennessee women’s tennis team will return home after a three-week road spell to host a pair of SEC matches against No. 41 LSU and No. 14 Texas A&M. The Lady Volunteers will take on the Tigers on Friday at 4 p.m., before facing the Aggies on Sunday at noon at Barksdale Stadium.
This past weekend, Tennessee (10-4, 2-2 SEC) dropped a pair of road matches at No. 22 South Carolina and No. 18 Florida. Despite falling in both of the matches, the squad was led by Sofia Cabezas, who notched three wins on the weekend. The Valencia, Venezuela, native etched a victory over No. 8 Ayana Akli in a 6-2, 6-4 affair. The senior also posted two wins in a doubles with partner, Elza Tomase. The duo tallied a 7-5 result against the No.41-ranked pair of Ayana Alki and Sarah Hamner from South Carolina and posted a 6-3 triumph against Malwina Rowinkska and Qavia Lopez from Florida.
Milestone Tracker:
Seniors Esther Adeshina and Cabezas each posted their 80th career doubles victory over the weekend. Adeshina achieved her win against No. 22 South Carolina’s Shahar Biran and Elise Mills in a 7-5 triumph with partner Alana Wolfberg. Cabezas collected her big victory by downing Malwina Rowinska and Qavia Lopez from No. 18 Florida in a 6-3 contest, alongside Tomase.

Scouting the Tigers:
The Lady Vols will face LSU for the 34th time in program history. Tennessee leads the series, 33-19, with 14 of those wins coming in Knoxville. The two squads met last season in Baton Rouge, LA., when the Lady Vols defeated LSU, 4-3, on April 2, 2023. The Tigers currently hold a 10-4 overall record and are 2-2 in SEC affairs.
Scouting the Aggies:
