TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona senior Kayla Wilkins has been named the recipient of the ITA Southwest Region Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award and the ITA Southwest Region Cissie Leary Sportsmanship Award, as announced by the organization on Wednesday.
Arizona’s team additionally garnered regional Community Service Award Honorable Mention status.
The Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award is presented to student-athletes who have exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and leadership, as well as scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievements. The Cissie Leary Sportsmanship Award is given to players who display inspiring dedication and commitment to their teams which has enhanced their teams’ performance and exemplified the spirit of college tennis.
Wilkins concludes her career with 65 singles wins and 59 doubles wins. She garnered All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention laurels in 2024 and 2021 and was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team in 2023. She tallied several ranked wins as a Wildcat and received the Bear Down Award from her coaches and teammates during the 2022-23 season. Her 16 singles wins in her final year with the Wildcats were the third-most on the team, and her 14 doubles wins as a junior led the team.
Over the course of her time with Arizona she has been dedicated to serving her community, spending time at kids’ tennis clinics, participating in drives and many other causes. Wilkins has logged nearly 90 hours of community service throughout her five years in school.
