GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Virginia’s Iñaki Montes was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week while Duke’s Garrett Johns and Pedro Rodenas and NC State’s Robin Catry and Luca Staeheli shared the ACC Men’s Doubles Team of the Week honors.

No. 29 Montes went undefeated in the Cavaliers’ top spot, leading No. 8 Virginia to a 3-0 weekend over Virginia Tech, Boston College and No. 13 Harvard. The junior secured two ranked wins with a 6-4, 6-2, victory over Virginia Tech’s No. 70 Ryan Fishback, and another straight-set 6-4, 6-4, win over No. 30 Harris Walker of Harvard to clinch UVA’s come-from-behind win. The Pamplona, Spain, native and Ryan Goetz teamed up to take down the Hokies’ 18th-ranked doubles pair of Ryan Fishback and Jordan Chrysosotom, 6-3.

The No. 71 duo of Johns and Rodenas finished the weekend 2-0 in doubles play, leading No. 15 Duke to a sweep of No. 54 Clemson and 6-1 win over No. 68 Georgia Tech. The pair clinched both doubles points for the Blue Devils over the weekend, including a 7-6 (5) victory over No. 20 Andres Martin and Marcus McDaniel of Georgia Tech. Against Clemson, Johns and Rodenas secured a 7-6 (2) to mark their seventh-straight win. The senior and freshman are 4-0 since shifting to Duke’s top court.

The No. 27 pair Catry and Staeheli earned another top 15 win over the weekend, as NC State swept Notre Dame, 4-0, and narrowly fell to Louisville, 4-3. The duo defeated the Cardinals’ No. 15 doubles team of Fabien Salle and Natan Rodrigues, 6-4. This is Catry and Staeheli’s second consecutive weekly award.
